There are over 3,100 national franchises that do just about anything you can imagine – from home tutoring to home cleaning. Franchising today is much more than fast food and retail. Opportunities abound for first time business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, and investors looking for new opportunities to build wealth. Wed May 31st, 6:30-8:30pm Central time“RESUMES TELL BUT COVER LETTERS SELL” NSENG, $20.00, webinar plus a Q&A session on – 83% of hiring managers say that cover letters are important in their hiring decisions (ResumeLab).
– 68% of companies said a cover letter was important when considering whether or not to interview a candidate (Resume Genius).
– 72% of hiring managers expect applicants to submit a cover letter even if the job posting says it’s optional.
For these reasons alone, you should be writing cover letters. Because an effective email cover letter does what a resume typically can never do—it enables you to CONTROL THE STORY in a very concise, easy-to-read way. And during this webinar I’ll show you how you can write highliy customized cover letters in less than 15 minutes. When written properly, a cover letter immediately connects the dots between your key achievements and the most important requirements of the job. It keeps the reader focused on your unique competencies and what value you bring to that specific position. Additionally, cover letters are very effective at giving you access to the “hidden job market” by getting you interviews with companies that don’t have an advertised position. Quite simply, a cover letter can get you interviews that other job seekers aren’t getting.
Here are a few of the topics that I will cover during my presentation:
– How to write customized cover letters in less than 15 minutes
– How to decipher a job description to identify the most pertinent job requirements
– How a cover letter should be constructed
– How a great cover letter can get you access to the “hidden job market”
– How an effective cover letter can separate you from 100-200 other job applicants for each job
– Effective email cover letter examples
The presentation will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session on any job search topics.
This live webinar will get recorded, so if you cannot attend the live event, you can always view the recording at a future date as long as you register or purchase the recording at a future date.

Location: Virtual Event
Sponsor: Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society

This session is uniquely designed to focus on you and your pursuit of future career goals and aspirations. You will be introduced to a methodology coined the Four Pillars of Empowerment. People are often intrigued by the pillars and will admit they have never thought about their careers in such an empowering way. They begin to see their career path more clearly, with more confidence and control.
Four Pillars of Empowerment
I Do – Identify your professional strengths (and we all have them)
I Desire – Boldly declare your heart’s desire
I Dare – Remove the fears that block your success
I Deserve – Create your success mindset
In this webinar, you will learn how to:
- lean into your professional strengths
- boldly declare your professional/career desires
- break through mental barriers that hold you back from attaining the position you desire.
- create a success mindset
Alvina knows all too well what it feels like to lack confidence, clarity, and control when it comes to one’s work. After a period of dreaming about doing the work she desired, she took control of her career. In 2022, Alvina has once again stepped out of her comfort zone to write her first book, Take Control of Your Career: Do What You Desire, Dare and Deserve to Do.
In her spare time, Alvina lends her talent to organizations dedicated to the advancement of women. These include WOMEN’S WAY, Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East, and The Pennsylvania Conference for Women.
Alvina inspires women nationally and internationally, to remove the barriers that get in the way of living their most empowered life.

The Ramsey Job Search Work Team meets every Monday morning. Networking and meeting starts at 9:00 to 10:30. Members are expected to hold each other accountable at weekly (virtual) meetings for conducting a job search in earnest. Historically, the team has enjoyed a very high rate of “landings” by those conducting an active and vigorous job search.
Based on the Lee-Hecht-Harrison model, it’s more of a project management team made up of people committed to helping each other in the job search. By attending regularly and staying focused on key tasks, meetings serve as an advisory panel that knows you and your search and can offer answers to the questions that come up in job hunting.
Help others to help you (especially for the first few meetings) by having a prepared “elevator pitch” to introduce yourself. Jobs open up because there’s a problem to solve or a need to fill.
Please contact Beth Berkenfeld at bberk2@optonline.net or 201-797-4342 if interested in joining the group.
